Statement from Vetiera Fair Trade on recent disinformation about the Haitian community in the US

Recently, there have been false statements spread about Haitian immigrants living in Springfield, Ohio. These accusations, despite having no base in truth, have been amplified through high-profile individuals and politicians, garnering national attention. We find it necessary to unequivocally state that Haitian people living in the US are a benefit to our communities and have valuable experiences, knowledge, and traditions to share. This online disinformation has serious, real-life impact and we will continue to monitor the situation — Haitians should be able to live free from harassment and violence in our country and around the world. We stand with the Haitian community, and our hearts are with them in the face of this unjustified hatred and onslaught of racism and xenophobia.
