Honey
The raw, Grade A honey that we source from farmers in Moreau, Haiti is the crown jewel of our lineup; the bees in rural Haiti pollinate hardwood trees, fruit trees, and subsistence crops, giving our honey a unique, rich flavor and darker color than other types of honey. We filter and bottle the honey in Minnesota, preserving the benefits of raw honey and the natural, aromatic citrus flavors.
Beeswax
After the farmers harvest honey, they melt down the drained honeycombs into blocks of beeswax that we use to craft our Bee Good, Do Good personal care products and candles. The beeswax varies in color based on what the bees pollinate each season and the amount of rainfall during that time — this means that each beeswax product has a unique hue reflecting the natural beauty of Haiti.
Shea butter
We are proud to source our shea butter from Baraka Shea Butter, a community-certified fair trade enterprise in Ghana. We chose this supplier for their commitments to environmental sustainability, fair trade values, and community investments in partnership with their employees. This shea butter makes our beeswax lotion bars and lip balms stand out on the shelf — showcasing the power of simple, natural, and high-quality ingredients in personal care products.
Cocoa butter
Our beeswax lip balms are primarily made with shea butter, but we specially craft a cocoa butter scent option for aficionados of this high-quality lotion ingredient! This organic cocoa butter is sourced from a fair trade supplier, ensuring that the people who craft this product are fairly compensated, protected in the workplace, and much more. Cocoa butter is a highly sought-after ingredient in personal care products due to its rich, fatty acids that help moisturize skin — locked in by our Haitian beeswax.
Jojoba oil
The texture of many lotions and balms is determined by the oils used in production — some oils, like coconut, tend to make personal care products “greasier,” while others melt less at room or skin temperature. We tried many recipes and formulations until we settled on jojoba oil as the right fit for our beeswax lip balms; this cold-pressed, unrefined oil is rich in vitamin E and will leave your lips feeling moisturized but not greasy all day. We love jojoba as an eco-friendly crop that grows on marginal land in deserts, and our oil supplier that ensures cruelty-free and ECOcert-approved practices from start to finish.
Grapeseed oil
When developing our signature lotion bars, we decided that we wanted to create a body lotion that moisturized without leaving too much residue on the skin; that’s why we chose grapeseed oil from a farmer-owned, non-GMO supplier who also prioritizes climate-friendly packaging for their products. Grapeseed oil is created as a byproduct of wine production, helping reduce waste by utilizing every part of the plant.
Essential oils
Our Haitian beeswax brings a subtle, earthy aroma to all of our lotion bars, lip balms, and candles. For extra soothing scents, we have thoughtfully chosen several essential oils across our product families — favorites like lavender, peppermint, ylang ylang, and many more. We have carefully chosen an ECOcert-approved vendor who supplies us with the highest quality steam-distilled essential oils.
